Somerville’s Union Square: Home of the ‘What’s the Fluff Festival”, and soon to be a stop on the green line T service. In the early 20th century, Union Square resident Archibald Query invented Marshmallow Fluff, and the rest, as we shall say, is history! Union Square is going through a rapid revitalization, due in part, by a Master Land Deposition Agreement drawn up between the City of Somerville and a development company from Chicago. Our three-story, new construction, two-unit building, marries the old-world simplicity with innovative 21st century design. Light enters the house in the form of exterior balconies and porches on each elevation. The main living areas are expansive and open, with large kitchens and living rooms. Design was drawn from the industrial forms that could be viewed in the neighborhood, and each unit was given its own aesthetic based on light, views, and flow.
Materials used: Leathered Titanium Black Granite, Mallorca book matched vertical and horizontal grain cabinetry, Duravit wall hung vanities, Ritz Grey honed marble, Polished Nickel fixtures and Island Stone cladding in Silver Quartzite.
